Since establishing my practice, I have provided clients in Broadacres, Bryanston, Craigavon, Dainfern, Douglasdale, Fourways, Lonehill, Paulshof, Rivonia, Sunninghill and Sandton, with a wide range of psychological interventions to suit their unique challenges and needs. With individual therapy some of the psychological approaches I employ are briefly described below.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIOUR THERAPY (CBT)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT):
CBT works with your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. CBT understands that by changing the way you think and act in the here-and-now (present), you can affect the way you feel. CBT can also be applied longitudinally to explore the origin of beliefs, rules and assumptions which shape your world-view: this knowledge can then be used to drive change in the present. There are evidence-based CBT models (and associated treatment protocols) for a wide range of range of challenges, but CBT can also be used to formulate (conceptualize) cases individually. This method aims to identify and correct distorted thinking patterns that can lead to feelings and behaviors that may be troublesome, self-defeating, or even self-destructive. The goal is to replace such thinking with a more balanced view that, in turn, leads to more fulfilling and productive behavior. In my therapy sessions, we’ll work to solve current problems and improve positive thinking and behavior. I will assist you to “re-frame” your reactions and provide you with valuable tools to cope with life’s obstacles.

PSYCHODYNAMIC THERAPY
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy:
Based on the principles of psychoanalysis, this therapy is less intense then the aforementioned, tends to occur once a week, and spans a shorter time frame. It is based on the premise that human behavior is determined by one's past experiences, genetic factors, and current situation. This approach recognizes the significant influence that emotions and unconscious motivation can have on human behavior.
HUMANISTIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
Humanistic Psychotherapy :
The perspective of humanistic psychology in brief can be summed up in five 'postulates':
Human beings, as human, supersede the sum of their parts. They cannot be reduced to components.
Human beings have their existence in a uniquely human context, as well as in a cosmic ecology.
Human beings are aware and aware of being aware – i.e., they are conscious. Human consciousness always includes an awareness of oneself in the context of other people.
Human beings have some choice and, with that, responsibility.
